Quinton Major
Precision was founded out of the
adversity that was the recession of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
It two founders, Frank Clark and Roger Smith, were employed at the
time by Brown Brothers Engineering (originally Brown Brothers
Aircraft), which became a victim of the downturn and was closed by
Dana, its American parent company.
Seeing a viable business within the remains of the company, Frank
and Roger came to an agreement with Dana to purchase the stock and
machines that made up the 'gear-lever section' of Brown Brothers.
They then formed a new company, originally called Underfold, in
early 1982 to manufacture nine varieties of assemblies for Land
Rovers, Sherpa Vans and the SD1 Rover car. Within the first year the
company had grown substantially and was taking on more work formerly
undertaken by Brown Brothers
including stainless
steel components called 'Stuffing boxes', and a number of parts for
Ford Tractor handbrakes which Airflow Streamlines took over from
Brown Brothers.
The company has
continued in that early vein, growing through the application of
prudent management and effective cost controls, into highly
respected supplier of fully engineered precision components and
assemblies to the UK automotive industry. In this time Quinton Major
Precision has developed close relationships with its customers and
suppliers with the result that it has gained a reputation for
innovative cost-effective solutions to complex manufacturing
demands. Having recently celebrated our 25th year of business, with
a track record of succeeding in less than favourable economic
circumstances, Quinton Major Precision Ltd. looks well placed to
efficiently handle the challenges that face any company in the
global market today.
